Caterpillar Crawl

I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to call this quilt when suddenly it came to me.  The colors crossing the quilt remind me of huge caterpillars.  And since I appliqued butterflies onto the border along with the flowers, well, the name was perfect!  I know it is hard to see in the pictures, but the border and backing is a medium lavender with white dots.

This was a fun quilt to make and was done sometime ago without the flowers appliqued around two corners.  Without the applique, it was definitely lacking something!  So, this quilt went in the “I’ll get to it later” pile.  Then, after deciding it needed the applique, I did all the cutting and attached all the little pieces to the quilt with fusible web.  Back to the same pile, this time because I needed/wanted to hand stitch all the applique down so the chance of it ever coming loose was lessened.  Since applique is not something I am crazy about doing, that quilt never seemed to make it to the top of that pile, or if it did, it soon returned to the bottom.  I am so pleased I finally stuck with it and finished it!  So here it is, and the next pile it goes to is the “Listed on Etsy” pile, hoping to find it a home where it will always be on the top of a bed or a couch or a wall or anywhere it can be admired and used!  After all, every quilt deserves to be loved!
