Blame It on the Sunshine

Yes, I started yet another new fun quilt and I blame it on the sunshine! I live in Washington State, the west side, and I do not take sunshine lightly. Nor, do I take my view of Mount Rainier nonchalantly. During rainy days and overcast ones, the mountain does not come out. “Does not come out” is Washington slang for “can’t see Mount Rainier”.

Fun Project and Sewing Outside

Last post I touched on the fact I started two new fun projects just because they looked fun. They are coming along nicely. I couldn’t resist taking a sewing machine and necessary things to the patio to sew in the sunshine and enjoy the beautiful mountain. I’ve been waiting for some spring warmth! In my excitement, I forgot sunscreen, but that is a completely different story and somewhat boring. I did remember to take a project to sew. Starting quilt #3 was precut and so easy to take outside with fabric labeled in plastic bags and all in order.

Quilt #3 is Fun and Fast

Quilt #3 underway is truly fun. I copied the pattern years ago from McCall’s quilting magazine. McCall’s online could not recall the pattern entitled Make It Your Way, so you know it is old! It is somewhat of a sampler quilt, but not really. I chose soft pastels and florals with the borders in a pretty pink floral. Total blocks come to 78 and does not include 144 half-square triangle blocks for the outer border. I actually finished 156 blocks yesterday – the 144 half-square triangle border blocks and 12 pinwheel blocks. The day in the sunshine produced 16 Friendship Star Blocks and 13 Sawtooth Star Blocks.

Photos Must Come Later

My phone recharger has a broken wire. The battery is at 1%. We won’t talk about how that happened. Let it suffice to say it involves the cord, the recliner, the foot mechanism of the chair and someone not being observant. Anyway, that is why no pictures!

Busy Week Again Wearing a Different Hat

Yet another busy week, but no more new quilting projects. I have to devote time to the GS camp I volunteer for as registrar and finance director (that one is a new title this year, same job but a fancy title).

May your week be wonderful. If you are going to be in the sun don’t forget the sunscreen! I speak from recent experience. Thank you for stopping by.
